General Purpose: Assists the Production Supervisor in keeping the line running during production hours. Assists Maintenance Manager with preventive maintenance tasks as assigned. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: • Associates or Bachelors’ degree with a minimum of two years of related mechanical/electrical experience or at least five years of on the job training and experience • Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, power distribution panels, AC and DC equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors and heating and cooling units • An individual is considered qualified upon notification by the PS or department head to the DHR that the employee has successfully completed the training and is qualified to perform the position. Notation of this notification is made in the employee’s training record. • Must be familiar with the machinery used in the company • Ability to make quick, accurate repairs to machinery and/or work with an outside contractor as directed by the Maintenance Manager • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings, schemes and procedure manuals • Ability to speak some English preferred • Advanced math and physics skills and basic knowledge of chemistry • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form Essential Functions: • Carries out daily work orders supplied by the Maintenance Manager and the PS • Performs mechanical and electrical repairs • Fabricates various elements according to simple and complex drawings and specifications provided by the Maintenance Manager • Keeps track of tools used during work hours • Troubleshoots problems on the Production Line, during and/or after production hours, and makes repairs as required to ensure continued safe operation • Makes any necessary repairs to the facility as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor • Enters components/parts used into the maintenance database using MP2 • Coordinates with Production Supervisors for daily tasks/projects • Makes rounds on the floor to inspect performance of all machinery and make repairs if needed • Checks the temperature of the bearings on the Robinson fan and the temperature of the pollution system burner “above bed” • Gives support to all of the technicians for all of the areas if necessary • Keeps the production floor clean from tools, hoses, motors, screws, etc. • Makes sure that all electrical boxes and cabinets are closed • Ensures that all equipment is shut off when the plant is shut down for a long weekend • Must stay at the end of the shift to close the plant with the supervisor. • Does not block the emergency exits nor the areas where fire extinguishers are stored • Informs the supervisor when they plan to take their lunch and breaks – these vary based on production needs. • Understands that wearing personal protective equipment based on the task being performed is mandatory. Informs supervisor if additional PPE is needed to make a job safer.
